GERARD R. RONDEAU
Gerard R. Gerry Rondeau, 88, of Uxbridge, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Center of Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecile M. (Gaudreau) Rondeau.

Born in Willimantic, CT on December 23, 1923, he was the son of the late Adoph and Delina (Lizee) Rondeau. He was the loving father of Laurent G. Larry Rondeau and his wife, Dawn, Paul R. Rondeau and Theresa Atherton, Roger R. Rondeau, Sr. and his wife, Carol, all of North Smithfield, RI; and his cherished 6 grandchildren, Rachael, Joshua, Jennifer, Roger, Jr, Robert, Brian and his late grandson Joseph Rondeau; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Gaston Gus Rondeau and his wife, Carmen of Pascoag, RI and the late Marie Rose Lachance, Emiliana Heroux, Yvonne Duguay, Antoinette Malboeuf, Marie Turcotte, Romeo Rondeau, Isadore Rondeau, Napoleon Rondeau and Dora Heroux.

A resident of Uxbridge since 1958, he was formerly of Woonsocket. Gerry was a refrigeration technician for Cumberland Farms for 20 years and then Daniel Prosciutto Company of Pascoag and Motorola until retiring.

He was a United States Army WWII Veteran with the 509th Airborne and received a Purple Heart. He loved flying and owned several planes.

Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed. Funeral will be held on Friday, June 22nd with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Marys Church, 77 Mendon St, Uxbridge, MA.

Interment will follow at the R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 So. County Trail, Exeter, RI with military honors. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Cartiers Funeral Home, Bellingham, MA

Gerard enlisted in the Army at Providence, RI on 5 April 1943.

On 28 February 1945 Pvt Rondeau was transferred from the 509th PIR to Company C, 508th but his arrival was delayed until 5 March 1945 due to having been wounded..

On 12 March 1945 Pvt Rondeau was promoted to Pfc.

Pfc Rondeau's military awards include the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal.
