EDWARD R. ROSS

[courtesy of Jonathan Omholt]

Record of burial and grave marker for Edward R. Ross in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg (Westmoreland county), Pennsylvania.

Edward enlisted in the Army at Greensburg, PA on 26 November 1943.

Pvt Ross was transferred from Hq 82nd airborne Division to Service Company, 508th PIR on 28 September 1944.  He was subsequently transferred to Company D on 21 November 1944,

Pvt Ross was promoted to Pfc on 20 January 1945.  He returned to the United States on 3 January 1946 aboard the SS Queen Mary (see bottom line of manifest).  He was discharged on the 16th of that month.

Edward's military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge which was awarded for action during the Ardennes campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945.

Tragically, Edward died on Valentine's day in 1988.  He suffered a heart attack in his automobile outside a local spots club.  Presumably it was brought on by ove exertion while working out.
