HENRY F. ROSS (AKA ROSIKIEWICZ )

Henry Ross, age 87, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2010 while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 11, 1923, son of the late Adam and Stella Rosikiewicz. He was a lifetime resident of Greenwich.

He enlisted in the Army and served in World War II as an elite member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a proud firefighter for the Town of Greenwich and was the last surviving charter member of the firefighter's union, Local 1042.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife
of fifty-nine years, Irene Ross, his daughter, Gail Todd and her husband, Jim Todd, his son, Stephen Ross, and Stephen's dear friend, Liza Hulit. He is also survived by his four beloved grandchildren, Brian and Daniel Todd and Adam and Katelyn Ross.

The family will receive friends at Castiglione Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on December 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church on Henry Street in Greenwich.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.

Henry enlisted in the Army at New Haven, CT on 1 July 1944.

On 27 October 1945, Pfc Rosikiewicz was transferred from  either the 504th or 505th Parachute Infantry [the morning report listed a number of men without specifying which sourcing regiment was involved for each individual].

Later, in civilian life, Henry shortened his surname to Ross.
