GEORGE E. ROYAL

Draft record for George E. Royal who was then living in Battleboro, NC, which is less than 100 miles south of Hopewell, VA. His birthplace of Dinwiddie county, VA abuts Hopewell.

George enlisted in the Army at Hopewell, VA on 3 February 1941.

Pvt Royal, initially a member of the 1st Battalion, 551st PIR was transferred from Hq 82nd Airborne Division to Service Company, 508th PIR on 9 February 1945.

His military decorations include the purple Heart and the Bronze Service arrowhead device awarded for the Southern France Campaign and Airborne Operations.
