George enlisted in the Army at Akron, OH on 23 October
1942 and was assigned to Hq 3rd, 50p8th PIR.
Pfc Russell participated in the ump into Normandy and
at the conclusion was promoted to Sergeant on 21 July 1944.
His military decorations include the Bronze Service
Arrowhead device awarded for participation in Normandy assault. |
