Juniors Sent To
Ft. Benning's OCS
BROOKINGS, [South Dakota] Dec.. 1 ---
Forty-four State College juniors were to arrive in Fort Benning, Ga. where
they will be enrolled in the Army Infantry Officers Candidate School.
They left Brookings last weekend.
Completed Basic Training
Members of the group already have completed their basic
infantry training, most of them being completed during the late spring or
summer at Camp Wolters, Monumental Springs, Texas.
Those successful in passing the rigorous training and selection
requirements will be commissioned as second lieutenants in the United States
army reserve.
All are former members of advanced ROTC classes at State College.
Since their return to campus early this fall they have been connected with
the ASTP engineering unit stationed at the college.

Sahs in Section I, Site 1626, Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso (El Paso
county), Texas.
Robert was commissioned 18 April 1944 and
completed jump school.
On 3 December 1945, 1st Lt. Sahs was
transferred from the 101st Airborne Division to Hq Hq, 508rh PIR.
While stationed in Frankfurt he met and
married Marine Corps Sergeant May Elizabeth Krimmel.
He went on to serve during the Korean
Conflict and Vietnam.
Attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel, he
apparently was affected by a reduction in force (RIF) and had to accept a lesser grade of Chief Warrant Officer
(CW-4) in order to serve out his pension limits.
He completed his service years while
stationed in El Paso at Fort Bliss and remained there after retirement. |

- Sahs
Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Krimmel, 672 Berkeley Rd., are
announcing the marriage of their daughter Marty Elizabeth to 1st Lt. Robert
E. Sahs, son of Mrs.. Charlotte Sahs of Watertown, Wis., on March 15 in
Frankfurt Germany.
The double ring ceremony was performed in the Catholic Chapel by
the Right Rev. Monsignor E.V. Barnes officiating.
The bride's gown was white parachute silk fashioned on traditional
lines with a fingertip veil. She carried an arm bouquet of white calla
lilies.
