MILTON L. SANDERS

SANDERS, M. L. (Mel)

   Age 68 of 142 Locust Hill. Services will be held 2 P M. Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home [for] Mr. Sanders who died 9 a.m. Sunday at his home following an apparent heart attack. He will be buried in the Frankfort Cemetery.
   Born March 24, 1924 In Pawnee, IL., Mel was a graduate of Murray State University and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a retired School Superintendent of Unity School district 13 In Southern Illinois.
   A long time resident of Paducah KY. and a well known basketball and football official in Western KY and a member of the Methodist Church.
   Survivors include his wife. Martha Dell Sanders, Frankfort; 2 sons, Fred S. Sanders, Frankfort and M.L. (Chip) Sanders of Los Angeles, CA; and 2 grandchildren. The Reverend Malcolm Luncetord will officiate.
   Friends may call on Rogers Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. 9 p m.
   Flowers are welcome as expressions of sympathy or if friends so desire the family suggests donations be made to the kidney foundation or the American Heart association.

Grave marker for Milton L. and Martha D. Sanders in Section N, Lot 5S, Graves 1 and 2, Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort (Franklin county), Kentucky.

 

Milton registered for the draft in Springfield, IL on 26 June 1942 and was inducted into the Army at Peoria, IL on 23 March 1943.

On 26 October 1945 SSgt Sanders was transferred from either the 504th or 505th PIR. The transfer order mingled men from both units without identifying the sending organization.
