HARRY L. SCHELL


Harry L. Schell, 87, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Clara; sons Chris and wife Patty of Albuquerque; Ronald and wife Kathy of Fairfax, VA; H. Kent and wife Karen of Overland Park, KS; daughter Debra and husband Robert of Crystal Lake, IL; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Harry served in the US Army's 82nd Airborne in the European Theater during World War II. He was a former federal government employee and retired as head of Education and Training for the Mine Safety and Health Administration.

Harry was a father of four children when he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Mining and Business. Services will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 10:00 A. M. at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain Road NE, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harry's name to Faith Lutheran Church.

On 8 March 1945, Pvt Schell was transferred from the 11th Reinforcement Depot to Company D, 508th PIR.

Pvt Schell was appointed to the grade of Pfc on 1 April 1945.

He was discharged on 7 January 1946.
