Grave marker for William F. Schmidt in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima (Allen), OH

William registered for the draft in  Lima, OH on 9 April 1945 and was inducted  into the Army at Fort Bragg, NC on 18 January 1946.

Remarkably, he was discharged on 14 November 1946 after just 1 year, 7 months and 6 days of service.  With the Army still winding down, he was a lucky man!
