DONALD D. SCHREIBER

   Donald D. Schreiber, 66, died Friday, Sept 25, 1987, at a health-care center in Riverside. Mo. He was born in Kansas City, Mo He was a retired carpenter/
   Mr. Schreiber was an Army veteran of World War II. He had served in the 82nd Airborne Division during the invasion of Normandy.
   Surviving are his wife. Mary Alice Schreiber. St. Joseph; a son, Stephen, Independence, Mo ; a sister, Dorcas Coleman, Las Vegas, Nev.; and two grandchildren.
  Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Auburn Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of' the Rupp Funeral Home.

Donald enlisted in the Army 15 December 1939, which was before the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 was instituted on September 16, 1940,

While stationed at Camp Atterbury, IN, he married Jean D. Jeffries of Kansas City, MO on 5 October 1942,

On 28 October 1943, Pvt Schreiber was assigned to Company C, 508th PIR.

Pvt Schreiber was slightly injured in action on 17 June, 1944

 

However, this post-war record from the Clay County Selective Service Board in Liberty, MO, shows that he was honorably discharged from the Army on 28 August 1945.
