BENJAMIN N. SCOTT, 67, of Camper's Cove, Lake
Panasoffkee [FL], died Saturday.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, he came to Lake Panasoffkee eight years ago from Newark, Ohio.
He was retired from the Ohio Highway Department, an Army veteran of World War II and a life member of Veterans of Foreign wars Post 1060, Newark, Ohio. He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred West Scott; a son, Ronald, Shepherdsville, Ky.; a daughter, Dora Webber of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Glenwood of Inverness; two sisters, Ada Minnix of Inverness and Dorothy Higgins of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Cremation services were held at the Inverness chapel of Hooper
Funeral Homes. A Memorial Service will be held in Ohio at a later date.

Benjamin enlisted in the Army on 17
October 1942.
He volunteered for parachutist duty and
was assigned to Company C, 508th PIR.
Pfc Scott was wounded in action on 17 June
1944 and evacuated to a field hospital. He returned to the company on
23 June.
He was again injured on 4 July 1944 and
returned to duty on 21 July.
Pfc Scott was elevated to Cpl on 17 August
1944.
Cpl Scott was wounded third tie on
28 October 1944. He rejoined the company on 4 December 1944 and was
transferred to Service Company for further recuperation.
On 4 January 1945, Cpl Scott was
transferred to Company B followed by a transfer to Med Det on 10 March
1945..
.He re-enlisted on 16 September 1946 and
was discharged on 12 September 1949. |
