Grave marker for Earnest L. Semrad in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid (Garfield county), Oklahoma.

Earnest enlisted in the Army at Oklahoma City, OK on 29 October 1943. after completion of basic training and jump school he was sent to 82nd Airborne Division HQ in England.

On 3 October 1944 Pvt Semrad was transferred to Service Company, 508th PIR.   On 22 November he was transferred to Company D.

Pvt Semrad went into action during the Battle of the Bulge and on 31 January 1945 was promoted to Pfc. 

On 3 February 1945 Pfc Semrad was listed as slightly injured in action and evacuated to a field hospital.  On 14 May he was transferred to still another hospital and did not return to the regiment.

Pfc Semrad was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945.
