ROBERT J. SESTRIC

Robert Sestric
   25th Ward --- A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Paul Kokenda of St. Michael and All Angels Lutheran Church. 24th Ward, was held Wednesday for Robert J. Sestric, 64, who died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1987 at Veterans Administration Hospital, Oakland.
    A veteran of the paratroopers of World War II, Mr. Sestric was a member of VFW 7090 and the Bricklayers' Union.
   Husband of the late Emily Cochinella Sestric, he is survived by one son, Michael Sestric; two daughters, Sheila Papania and Emily Panzino; two brothers, Joseph and Raymond; and eight grandchildren.
   Burial was in Alleghany County Memorial Park, McCandless.

Robert enlisted in the Army at Pittsburgh, PA on 6 February 1943.

On 7 August 1943 Pvt Sestric was transferred from the Parachute School to Co I, 508th PIR and was promoted to Sergeant (Temporary) that same day.

On 2 September 1943 Pvt Sestric was transferred to the 990th Replacement Depot.  He did not return to the regiment.

Record of Veteran Burial
for Robert J. Sestric indicates that he attained the rank of Sergeant and had been a member of Company B, 504th PIR
