JAMES H. SHARPLESS

Grave markers for James H. Sharpless and his wife Gwendoline M. [Breeze] Sharpless in the Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square (Chester county), Pennsylvania.

Also shown is the burial record for James issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

James enlisted at Philadelphia, PA on 30 July 1942 and volunteered for parachutist duty.  He was assigned to the 508th, Service Company.

Pfc Sharpless received the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the Ardennes campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945, effective 31 Dec 1944.

Once the combat ended and he could go on furlough, James returned to England where on 27 March 1945 he married Gwendoline M Breeze in the Lenton Parish Church, Lenton, Nottingham.
