WILLIAM H. SHEARER

Grave marker for William G. Shearer in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Greer (Spartanburg county), South Carolina.

William enlisted in the Army at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Little Rock, AR on 19 July 1940.

On 31 March 1944 Pvt Shearer was transferred from the Field Force Replacement Depot No. 8 to Co I, 508th PIR.

He was discharged on 1 July 1945 but decided to re-enlist on 14 November 1946.  On 31 January 1968 MSgt Shearer retired from active duty.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.
