CRASH KILLS OHIOAN

   GALLIPOLIS, O. (AP) --- An automobile hit a culvert near Coalton yesterday and threw Harry W. Simons, 27, Columbus, to his death.
   The driver, Clarence B. Brown, 27. Columbus, was brought to Holzer hospital here with head injuries.

Harry enlisted in the Army at Columbus, OH on 11 November 1942.

On 18 September 44, Pvt Simons was transferred from Hq 82nd Airborne Division, Leicester, England to Service Company, 508th PIR.  He was subsequently transferred to Company D on 8 December 1944.

He was promoted to the grade of Pfc on 20 January 1945.

Pfc Simons was wounded in action on 28 January and evacuated to a field hospital,

Still hospitalized, Pfc Simons was transferred to the hospital's Detachment of Patients on 29 April 1945.  He did not return to the regiment.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge awarded for action during the campaign, 18 December 1944 to 20 February 1945, effective 16 January 1945 and the Good Conduct Medal.
