[courtesy of Glenda Sims Fountain]

Grave marker for Chappell S. Sims in Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Danville (Twiggs and Wilkinson counties), Georgia.

Chappell enlisted in the Army at Noblesville, IN and volunteered for parachutist duty.

On 22 October 1945, Pfc Sims was transferred from the 101st Airborne Division to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR.

He reenlisted in the Army on 13 November 1945 for a period of 3 years and was immediately placed on TDY with the 6903rd Reinforcement Battalion, Le Havre, France for a reenlistment furlough of 60 days.  He may well have made it home and back during that furlough period.
