Pvt. Arthur Sippy, son of Steve Sippy, city, made his fifth and qualifying
jump as a paratrooper at Fort Benning. Ga.. last Friday night. He has undergone; four weeks training, including jumping from 250-foot 250-foot 250-foot towers, and now wears the Wings and Boots of the U. S. Army's most modern soldier, the Paratrooper.

to a War Department telegram received by his sister, Mrs. ''Cy" Graf,
Milwaukee.
Pvt. Sippy is receiving treatment ; at General Hospital 76, APO 35,c-o Postmaster, New; York, N. Y,
He has been wounded in the hip! and right leg, presumably from artillery shell fragments.
Pvt. Sippy has been overseas two years or more,- starting his military career in North Africa. He was a paratrooper when he arrived overseas overseas and has jumped over enemy lines' in Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He is the son of Steve Sippy, former resident
of the' South Side, and attended Chippewa high school before entering the service. He will be 21 in April.

Arthur Sippy A gathering of family
and friends was held Wednesday, April 9, for Arthur F. Sippy, 83, who
died of lung cancer April 6, at his Belgium (Wisconsin) home.
He was born April 234, 1924 in Chippewa
Falls the son of Steve and Winif3ed Keeler Sippy.
Mr. Sippy served in the U.S. Army in
Europe during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a route salesman for various
bakery companies before he joined Paper Machinery Company in Milwaukee,
retiring in 1989.
Mr. Sippy was an avid fisherman and
enjoyed bowling, golfing traveling and spectator sports. He was a
die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.
Mr. Sippy is survived by his children
Michael (Linda) of Germantown, Dana Lustig of Wauwatosa, Brian (Gynell)
of Raleigh, NC, Doreen (Gary) Roach of Milwaukee, and Patrick (Denise)
Daniel and Christine (Robert) Ewald, all of Brookfield; 15grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother
Charles (Virginia) of Chippewa Falls and soul mate and best friend of 21
ears Joyce.
The gathering was held at Eernisse
Funeral Home in Belgium.

Arthur
F. Sippy registered for the draft on 16 January 1943 and was inducted
into the Army on 1 May 1943.
Following
completion of basic training he volunteered for parachutist duty.
Pvt Sippy was transferred from the 551st PIR to Company
D, 508trh PIR on 11 February 1945. Remarkably, he is reported in
that same month's Morning Report as having been wounded in action on
February 10, a day prior to his transfer date.The newspaper
clipping at left reported the date as February 12, which more be more
accurate. Arthur was discharged on 1 November 1945. His military
decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze service Arrowhead
device which was for the Southern France Campaign and Airborne
Operations Arthur's remains were cremated, the disposition of his
ashes is unknown. |
