ANDREW J. SKLIVIS

Grave markers for Andrew J. and Elizabeth R. Sklivis in Section 1A, Site 14, Fort Stevens Cemetery, Warrenton (Clatsop county), Oregon.

The Sklivis Site is marked with an arrow in the overall map of the Fort Stevens Cemetery and then again in a cropped version.

Andrew enlisted in the Army on 26 October 1943. 

On 4 November 1943, T/5 Sklivis was transferred from the Parachute School, Fort Benning, GA to Hq Hq, 508th PIR.  He was appointed to the grade of T/4 on 23 January 1943.  He was discharged on 21 November 1946.

 

The Selective Service updated Andrew's draft record in Birmingham. AL on 26 November 1946 to reflect that he was a veteran and currently unemployed.

Andrew returned to military service on 10 March 1952, but this time it was in the Air Force.  He was discharged on 31 July 1965.

During his Air Force service period he returned to Germany where he and his wife, Elizabeth, adopted a child.

On 8 August 1956, Andrew (line 5) and Elizabeth (line 6) are listed with daughter Konstanz Maerhlein (line 4), then 23 months of age.

Constance Elizabeth, whose name had been Americanized, was formally adopted in Portland, OR on 12 April 1960.

 

Then, on 8 March 1954, Constance became a naturalized U.S. citizen.
