ALEX SOLLIE


ALEX SOLLIE, 93. Beloved husband of the late Mary R. (nee Miralia) and the late Gloria (nee Musgrave). Loving step-father of Dominic "Dan" Plescia. Brother of Elizabeth Horner, Margaret Deweese, Eugene, Julia Aiello, Rose, Esther Atkinson, John, Barbara Woodard, and Albert. Loving grandfather of Lisa Stevens, Anthony and Alexander Plescia, and Adam and Andrew Bonsky. Great-grandfather of seven. Uncle and great-uncle of many.

Member of the Cleveland Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, US Army. Participated in D-Day Normandy Invasion.

All Funeral Services Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 10 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.  Luncheon to follow.  Family will receive friends at the Yurch Funeral Home, 5618 Broadview Road, Parma, Ohio 44134 (between Snow and Brookpark) Wednesday 4 PM TO 8 PM. 216-398-1010

Grave marker for Alex Sollie and second wife in the Garden of the Apostles, Lot 35 B, Grave 4 of the Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, Brooklyn Heights (Cuyahoga county), Ohio.

Alex enlisted in the Army at Columbus, OH on 13 November 1942 and was assigned to Hq 3rd, 508 PIR.

He was promoted to the grade of Pfc on 20 January 1944 and held that rank until discharged.
