Grave marker for Eldred W. Soronen in Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte (Mecklenburg county), North Carolina.

Eldred enlisted at Detroit, Michigan on 24 July 1941 and was assigned to the 507th PIR.

On 16 Oct 1942, Cpl Soronen was transferred from the 507th as a cadre member for the newly activated 508th PIR.  In 1943 he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and appeared in the Service Company photo at Camp Mackall.  He was later transferred to still another parachute infantry regiment.

He ultimately retired as a MSgt with his last unit apparently being the 541st PIR. His military decorations included the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
