Jack M. Sosby enlisted in the Army at Ft
Jackson, Columbia, SC on 11 August 1943. After completion of basic
training and jump school he was shipped to England.
Pvt Sosby was transferred from the 11th
Replacement Depot to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR on 10 August 1944
On 19 December 1944, one day after the
regiment was called up for the Battle of the Bulge, Pvt Sosby was
hospitalized as a non-battle casualty, perhaps due to frostbite. He
remained in a field hospital until 4 April 19545 when he was transferred to
hospital in the rear, probably in the U.K.
On 3 January 1946 Pvt Sosby arrived in New
York City harbor aboard the Queen Mary after sailing from Southampton,
England on December 28th, 1945. He was discharged on 17 January 1946 |
