WILLIAM E. SPESS

Burial record  and grave marker for William E. Spess in Lot V, Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown (Lehigh county), Pennsylvania.

William enlisted at Camp Lockett, Campo, CA on 30 November 1941.

On 6 August 1943 Pvt Spess was transferred from the Parachute School to Company F, 508th PIR.  Then on 2 September he was transferred to Replacement Station 970 per orders from Hq ABC.

Pvt Spess was reported as wounded in action by the National Jewish Welfare Board based on an entry in the War Department Release, Feb 28 1945 but he actual date of the event was not shown.

In 1950 William applied for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans bonus and was awarded $500 for his service period of 44 months, 19 of which was overseas.
