Pittsburgh (Allegheny county), Pennsylvania.
Bernard
was registered for the draft in Pittsburgh, Pa and enlisted in the Army at New Cumberland, PA on 13 June
1944.
Pvt Spilecki was shipped to the ETO in January 1945 and was
transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot to Hq 2nd, 508th PIR on 8 March.
On 31 May 1945, Pvt Spilecki was transferred to the 101st
Airborne Division and returned to the U.S. on 2 March 1946. He
was discharged at Fort Dix, NJ on 27 May 1946.
Bernard submitted this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus
on 17 January 1950. He was credited with 8 months of domestic duty and 13
months of foreign service for a $275 bonus award. |
