Stanfield joined the Army on 20 December 1940.  His earliest service details are unknown, including when he joined the 50p8th.

On 10 November 1943, Captain Stach was announced as the new Regimental Claims Officer, relieving Captain Donald K. Ipson of that duty.

There is currently no other known mention of Captain Stach in 508th records but the Veterans Administration file indicates that he left the service as a Major on 8 May 1947.
