JOSEPH F. STAENDL

Grave marker for Joseph F. Staendl in Plot R-2377 of the Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver (Denver county), Colorado.

in about 1943 Joseph enlisted in the Army at Camp Atterbury Army Air Field, Columbus, IN.  In 1944 Pfc Staendl was set to the Hq 82d A/B Div Leicester, England.  On 21 July 1944 he was transferred to Hq 3rd Bn, 508th.

Pfc Staendl was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead for his participation in the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.

SSgt Staendl re-enlisted on 31 January 1946 and later transitioned to the U.S. Air Force after it was established in September 1947. HE achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9, equivalent to the Army grade of Sergeant Major)
