CHESTER O. STEPHENS

Grave marker for Chester O. Stephens in the Garden of Luke, Mount Angeles Memorial Park, Port Angeles (Clallam county), Washington.

Pfc Stephens, Company H, was reported MIA on 6 June 1944 but returned to duty five days later.  He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944.

Promoted to Cpl immediately following the regiment's return to Normandy he was subsequently bumped to Sergeant while it was in Holland, perhaps replacing a casualty.

Sgt Stephens was injured in action on 3 February 1945 in Belgium.

TSgt Stephens re-enlisted on 31 January 1946.
