WILLIAM D. STOCKARD

WILLIAM "TONY" STOCKARD

   William Donald "Tony" Stockard, 79, of 1120 Edgefield St., Columbia, S.C., formerly of Greensboro, died Thursday at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
   Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Liberty.
   An Army veteran of World War II, Stockard was a life member of VFW Post 641, charter member of 82nd Airborne Division-507 paratroopers, and was awarded Static Line Man of the Year for 1980.  He was a graduate of High Point College, a member of the committee for Battle of Normandy Museum, and a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
   Surviving is his sister, Mrs. Emily Odom Rutherford of Columbia.
   The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home 7-9 p.m., today.
   Thompson Funeral Home in West Columbia is in charge of arrangements in South Carolina.

Grave makers for William D. Stockard in Fairview Cemetery, Liberty (Randolph county), North Carolina.

 

William registered for the draft in Liberty, NC on 16 October 1940 and was inducted into the Army at Fort Bragg, NC on 11 April 1942.

T5 Stockard appeared in the 3rd Anniversary book photo of men recently arrived in Co B published on 20 October 1945.
