BENNIE A. STOCKTON

Grave marker for Bennie A. Stockton in Fort Cobb Cemetery, Fort Cobb (Caddo county), Oklahoma.

 

Bennie registered for the draft in Fort Cobb, OK on 29 January 1943 and was inducted into the Army at Oklahoma City, OK on 1 January 1944

Pvt Stockton was transferred from Hq 82d Airborne Division to Service Company, 508th PIR on 29 September 1944.  He was then transferred to Company E on 8 December 1944.

He was promoted to Pfc on 22 January 1945.

On 3 February 1945, Pfc Stockton was evacuated as a non-battle casualty and was able to return to duty on 25 February 1945.

He was discharged from the Army on 19 April 1946.  His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the campaign, 18 December 1944 to 20 February 1945

Bennie married Julia Imogene Mills in Cyril, OK in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Y. Mills on 5 December 1947
