THOMAS SACCHETTI

John William Stone

   HUGHES SPRINGS - Services for John William Stone, 65, of Hughes Springs will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nail-Haggard Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Barber officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Cemetery in Wood County near Winnsboro.
   Mr. Stone died Thursday in Linden. He was a member of Oddfellows Lodge No. 101, Daingerfield.
   He is a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Stone retired in 1985 as a terminal manager for Lesco Trucking. He was a former water and sewer superintendent for the city of Daingerfield and also owned and operated his own plumbing business.
  . Survivors include his wife, Mrs. John William Stone; two sons, John C Stone of Hughes Springs and Meredith Paul Stone of Dallas; two daughters, Elizabeth Sharon Marshall of Houston and Chyrle Denise Stone of Mount Pleasant; four brothers, V, L. Edgar E. and Harold J. Stone, all of Winnsboro and Bobby Roy Stone of Redding, Calif.; one sister, Gwendolyn Rose Henderson of Mesquite, Texas; mother, Mrs. Edna Stone, Winnsboro; and six grandchildren.

John registered for the Draft on 1 July 1941 in Dallas, TX and was inducted into the Army at Dallas, TX on 27 November 1942.

The date of Pvt Stone's arrival in Hq 3rd, 508th is unknown but on 27 November 1943, he was transferred to the 541st PIR. 

He was discharged on 2 September 1945,

On 3 May 1948, he married Elizabeth M Humphrey  in Arkansas.
