JOHN F. STREY
John F. Strey, 87, Princeton, MN, died Wednesday, March 07, 2012 at his daughter's home in rural Princeton.

Visitation: 4 to 7 PM, Sunday, March 11th, 2012 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton and for one hour before services at the church. Service: 1 PM, Monday, March 12th, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Princeton. Burial: Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton, MN.

John enlisted in the Army on March 3, 1943 and was assigned to Company C, 508th PIR.

On 29 March 1944 Pvt Strey was placed on Detached Service for a Military Police detail at Hq & Hq, 2dn A/B Brigade.  He returned to duty on May 22 1944.

Pvt Strey was hospitalized after being injured in the line of duty on 18 June 1944.  He was released from the hospital on 8 July 1944 and transferred to Service Company for light duty.

On 21 July 1944 he was promoted to Pfc

On 17 September 1944 Pfc Strey was again injured in action and placed in a hospital.  He was released from the Hospital on 30 January 1945.  On 7 February 1945 Pfc Strey was transferred from the  3rd Replacement Depot to Company C, 508th PIR.

John's military  decorations include the Purple Heart nd the Bronze Service arrowhead device which was awarded for participation in Normandy assault.
