ARTHOR S. STUCKEY

Arthor S. Stuckey, 87 of Knoxville, PA passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Corning Hospital, Corning, NY.

Born July 10, 1925 in Fairmont, WV, he was the son of the late Lawrence W. and Flora (Benson) Stuckey. He served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart. He married Bessie C. Jones; she passed on April 2, 2009.

Arthor was a member of the Knoxville VFW Post #6753, Knoxville – Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department, Riverside Cemetery Association and the Purple Brook Rod and Gun Club.

He is survived by his sons, Edward (Cathy) Stuckey of Waldorf, MD and Frank (Julie) Stuckey of Elkland, PA; his daughters, Carol (Edward) Morris of LaPlata, MD, Donna (David) Blend of Elkland, PA and Doris Morehouse of Woodhull, NY; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Yoked Church of Knoxville, 110 Alba St., Knoxville, PA on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Sherry Good officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Knoxville, PA. Arrangements are in care of Kenyon Funeral Home.

Arthor enlisted in the Army at Clarksburg, WV on 23 October 1943.

Pvt Stuckey was wounded in action in Belgium on 28 December 1944.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.
