WOLFORD J. THORNGATE

Burial record and grave marker for Wolford J. Thorngate in Section 29D, Grave 2 of the Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon (Westmoreland county), Pennsylvania.

Wolford enlisted in the Army at Erie, PA on 14 May 1943.  Pvt Thorngate completed basic training and jump school before being shipped to England.

Pfc Thorngate was transferred from the 82nd Airborne HQ to Hq 2nd, 508th on 23 July 1944.  He may have been injured in Holland as he was hospitalized on 4 October 1944 and in January 1945 he was transferred to a second hospital.  He did not return to the regiment.

Pfc Thorngate was discharged on 11 March 1946 but re-enlisted and served during the Korean Conflict from 27 October 1949 through 19 May 19453.  He attained the rank of Tech/5.
