He is buried in the Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount (Franklin county),
Virginia. Paul, as he preferred to be known,
enlisted in the Army at Roanoke, VA on 21 Potier 1942 whereupon he
volunteered for parachutist duty.
It was not until 29 March 1945 that Pvt Thurman was
transferred to the 508th PIR. Placed administratively to service Company he
was immediately transferred to Company I.
Returning to U.S., Paul married Margaret Marie Campbell in
Rocky Mount, VA on 26 April 1947.
Although employed in the furniture manufacturing industry
when he joined the Army Paul worked as the plant manager for the Weaver
Mirror Company. |
