Grave marker for Walter P. Toler in Elk Hills Memorial
Park, Big Chimney (Kanawha county), West Virginia.
Walter registered for the draft in Bim, WV on 31 March
1943 and was inducted into the Army on 18 August 1943.
Pfc Toler was transferred from the 551st PIR to Service
Company, 508th PIR on 31 January 1945. He was subsequently transferred
to Company G on 2 February 1945.
On 16 February 1945, Pfc Toler was evacuated as a
non-combat casualty.
He was transferred from the 6900th Reinforcement Depot to
Company G on 10 June 1945.
Pfc Toler re-enlisted on 10 November 1945 and was
discharged on 10 November 1948.
His military decorations include Bronze Service Arrowhead
device awarded for the Southern France Campaign and Airborne Operations. |
