JULIAN D. TORBETT

Grave marker for Julian D. Torbett and spouse in Plot 20B, Site 574 of the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside (Riverside county), California.

Julian was transferred to Service Company, 508th Hq 82d Airborne Division on 29 September 1944.  He was then moved to Company I.

Pvt Torbett was wounded in action on 29 January 1945 and evacuated to a field hospital/. On 1 May 1945 he was removed from the 508th rolls and transferred to the hospital's detachment of patients.  He did not return to the regiment.

Although it is not known what unit he was with at the time, he received the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during the Normandy, France Campaign.  His other military decorations include the Purple Heart.
