ADOLPH W. TREPPENDAHL

TREPPENDAHL, ADOLPH WETTLIN, CEO of C.M. Treppendahl & Sons Inc.* and a resident and native of Woodville, Miss., died at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002, at his home. He was 82.

Visiting at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish House, Woodville, from noon until religious service at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Van Windsor. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Woodville.

Survived by his wife, Betty Jo Treppendahl, Woodville; three daughters, Janet T. Holt and Lynn T. McArthur, both of Jackson, Miss., and Virginia T. Bruton, Convers, Ga.; a son, Adolph Wettlin Treppendahl Jr., Woodville; a stepson, Greg Stewart, Madison, Miss.; a sister, Margaret T. Alford, Covington; a brother, Carl M. Treppendahl Jr., Woodville; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Carl M. Treppendahl and Elizabeth Wettlin Treppendahl; and two brothers, Marshall Treppendahl and John Roe Treppendahl. Pallbearers will be Edwin Holt Jr., James McArthur Jr., Wettlin Treppendahl III, Clinton Hurst, Don Gober and Bill Gault. Honorary pallbearers are John Lewis, Dr. Bob Lewis, Andy Lewis, Richard Graves, Wade McCants, Percival Beacroft, Charles Whetstone Jr., Robert Jordon, Stephen Seal, Charles Gilmore, Blake Leblanc, Odell Wyatt and Andy Partridge.

He graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy, where he was president of his graduating class. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. In World War II, he attended the parachute school at Fort Benning, Ga. He was a major in the 11th Airborne Parachute Division at Okinawa, the Philippines and Japan prior to the end of World War II.

He was a senior warden and member at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, former president of Woodville Lion's Club, Alderman for the Town of Woodville for 12 years, chairman of the Industrial Board and member of the Mississippi Chemical Board.

Grave marker for Adolph W. Treppendahl in the Evergreen Cemetery, Woodville (Wilkinson county), Mississippi.

Adolph entered military service on 1 February 1942.  2nd Lt Treppendahl was transferred from the 507th PIR to Hq 2nd, 508th on 1 October 1942 as a Cadre member.

Later transferred to Service Company, he functioned the Supply and Maintenance Officer as well as the Regimental Motor Transportation Officer.

1st Lt Treppendahl was transferred to the 541st PIR on 27 August 1943.

He was discharged on 6 April 1946 with the rank of Major and served in the 11th Airborne Parachute Division at Okinawa, the Philippines, and Japan prior to the end of World War II.
