Grave marker for James F. Upton in El Reno Cemetery, El Reno (Canadian county), Oklahoma.

James enlisted in the Army at Oklahoma City, OK on 9 November 1942.

Cpl Upton was transferred to the Army Air Corps per Special Order No 209 Sept 1, 1943 Hq Fourth Service Command, Atlanta, Ga.  What precipitated this unusual transfer is unknown.

Based on his grave maker James attained the rank of SSgt before his discharge which occurred on 16 November 1945
