The date of SSgt Vancini's arrival in Service Company, 508th is not known due to unavailability of Morning Reports for that period but is believed to have occurred in 1942.

He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal on 29 July 1943.

On 14 August 1943, SSgt Vancini was sent on Detached Service to the B & G School at Fort Bragg, NC.

He returned from the school and took a furlough returning to duty on 28 October 1943.

That was the last appearance of him in 508th records.

He apparently was transferred at some later date to the 187th Parachute Glider Infantry, perhaps while the two units were both located at Camp Mackall,. NC in 1943.
