James A. Vanderslice died on Sunday,
September 13, 1998 at his residence. He was 75.
Born in Philadelphia, he had lived in
Huntingdon Valley for 47 years. He was formerly of Ivyland and the
Hatboro-Horsham area.
Mr. Vanderslice was a carpenter and a
member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of
Philadelphia. He had been employed by the F.W. Woolworth Store for
several years before his retirement.
Mr. Vanderslice was an Army veteran of
World War II, serving in the European Theater, and was awarded the
Bronze Star.
He was an active member of the Ivyland
Presbyterian Church. He served the church as an Elder, Trustee, Sunday
School Superintendent and choir member. Mr. Vanderslice was a member of
Bray Lodge No. 410 F. & A.M. in Hatboro, the Lehigh Consistory and was a
founding member of the Southampton Square Dance Club.
He was the beloved husband of the late
Florence Knipe Vanderslice; devoted father of Wayne (Jeanne) Vanderslice
of Lansdale and June V. (Bill) Hull of Oakford, and grandfather of
Captain Chad R. Vanderslice of Springfield, Va., Carl N. Vanderslice of
Lansdale, Tami (David) Wunder of Pikesville, Md., and Bill Hull of
Oakford; and the brother of Marian Alderfer of Hatboro. Relatives are
invited to his service Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Ivyland Presbyterian
Church, Gough and DeBois avenues, Ivyland, Pa. 18974.
Interment will be in Hatboro Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday evening form 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wm. Rowen
Grant Funeral Home, Street Road and Second Street Pike, Southampton.
Donations in his name may be made to the Ivyland Presbyterian Church.
