RONALD L. VAN VLERAH

 Grave marker for Ronald L. Van Vlerah  in Plot: 507 of the Mottville Township Cemetery, Mottville (St. Joseph county), Michigan

Pvt Van Vlerah enlisted in the Army on 29 October 1943.  after completion of basic training and jump school he was shipped to the 11th  Replacement Depot in England.  From there, her was transferred to the Medical detachment of the 508th on 10 August 1944.

Pvt Van Vlerah participated in the Operation Market Garden into Holland on 17 September 1944.  He was wounded in action on 1 October and after treatment in a hospital was transferred to Service Company for futher recuperation.  was a member of the Medical Detachment and was probably attached as a medic with Company C.

Pvt Van Vlerah's military awards included the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Star device for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.
