JOSEPH V. VICKNAIR
Joseph V. Vicknair, on Tuesday, January 20, 1976 at 3:30 p.m., husband of Eula Mae Landry Vicknair, step-father of Danny Foster and Mrs. Shirley Alleman, brother of Jessie Vicknair, Mrs. Ella Mae hall of Hammond, Elmo Vicknair of Montz, Gentry Vicknair and Mrs. Lillian Pfister of Norco, age 57 years, a native of Whitehall, La. and a resident of Norco.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from H C Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 821 Fourth St, Norco, La. on Thursday, January 22, 1976 at 9:30 a.m. Interment in Whitehall Cemetery, Whitehall, La.

Grave marker for Joseph V. Vicknair in the Whitehall Community Cemetery, Whitehall (Livingston Parish), Louisiana,

Joseph enlisted in the Army at Shelbyville, IN on 16 January 1942. 

Pvt Vicknair transferred to the 508th, Service Company on 3 October 1944 from an 82nd Airborne Division replacement depot.  He was later transferred to H Company.

Wounded in Belgium on 12 January 1945, Pfc Vicknair received the Purple Heart.

Pfc Vicknair was aboard the USAT Stetson Victory when  it arrived in New York city on 2 December 1945.  He was grouped with men from LA and MS who were all bound for the Reception Station at Camp Shelby, MS for out processing.
