Virga (nee Klein), dear father of Beverly :LaFatta, Danny and Christopher Virga, dear son of Dominica and the late Phillippo Virga, dear brother-in-law, father-in-law , grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
   Funeral from HOFMEISTER CHAPEL, 7814 S. Broadway, Fri., 9:15 a.m., with Mass celebrated at the Church of St. Bernadette, 10 a.m.  Interment National Cemetery.  VISITATION, WED, AFTER 2 P.M.

Carmelo enlisted in the Army on 4 March 1943,  On 10 August 1944 Pvt Virga was transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot to Company D, 508th PIR.

Pvt Virga was first reported as missing in action in Holland on 17 September 1944 but was later determined to have been taken prisoner.  He was liberated from Stalag 3C after hostilitioes ceased.

His military decorations include the Combat Infantryman badge and the Bonze Service Arrowhead device, both awarded for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.
