WILLIAM WAGONER
William (Bill) Wagoner, 79, of Pateros, was born on July 22, 1930 in Peshastin and left his beloved family and friends on Sept. 28, 2009. Bill was the son of Chauncey and Cora Wagoner and the youngest of 10 children.

Bill graduated from Twisp High School in 1949. From 1951 to 1953, he served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. After returning from Korea, he went to Arizona and then moved back to Twisp where he married Betty Wilhelm on Nov. 17, 1957. They had two children, Danny and Jill.

Bill spent many years in the banking profession in Twisp and Pateros. He then went to work for Nordang Trucking delivering freight. He had many friends along his routes.

While living in Twisp, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club and was on the Twisp City Council. After moving to Pateros in 1974, he became active in the Alta Lake Men's Golf Club and was a member of the Apple Pie Jamboree board. Bill and Betty were recently honored as the 2007 Citizens of the Year for Pateros.

Bill enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and Mexico, and spending time with family and friends. He was also an accomplished artist whose paintings are enjoyed by many. You would also find Bill rooting for the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners as one of their avid fans.

Although Bill had a variety of medical problems in the last few years, he never lost his wit and humor that left everyone smiling.

Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty; son, Danny (Maria) Wagoner of Seattle; daughter, Jill (Frosty) Freeze of Davenport; grandsons, Trenton Briney and Ty-Joe (Jessica) Freeze; great-granddaughter, MacKenzie; sister, Juanita Gillem of Wenatchee; brother, Warren (Red) Wagoner of Spokane; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will take place on Oct. 17 at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Twisp at 1 p.m. A Celebration Of Life will follow the service at the Methow Valley Senior Center in Twisp.

Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association or the Methow Valley Senior Association.
