BERNARD W. WALKER

   Bernard W. Walker 70, Jensen Beach He died Saturday in Port St. Lucie.
   Born in Vincennes, Ind., he was a local resident for 15 years.
   Prior to retirement he was a planning engineer with L.T.V. Steel in East Chicago. lie served with the Army, was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church and American Legion Post No. 232 in Indianapolis.
   Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughters Cheryl Balzer of Hobart, Ind., and Lynn Walker of Port St. Lucie; and one grandson.
   Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Aycock Funeral Home Chapel in Jensen Beach. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
   An internment service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Fernhill

Bernard registered for the draft in Hammond, IN on 5 October 1943 and was inducted into the Army at Indianapolis. IN on 29 November 1943.

On 10 August 1944 Pvt Walker was transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot to Company G, 508th PIR.  He was promoted to Pfc on 14 October 1944.

He was discharged on 30 January 1946.

His military decorations include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.
