Daniel J. Walker 1925-2010

CHAMPION - Daniel J. Walker, 85, went home to be with his Lord at 11:15
p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 27, 1925, in Warren, the son of Fred A. and Ethel M.
Horner Walker.
Dan was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran of World War II,
serving in the 508th Parachute Infantry and receiving the Purple Heart.
Mr. Walker was retired from Thomas Strip Steel Corp. in 1986 after 39
years of service as an electrician.
Daniel was a member of Champion Baptist Church where he was a past
deacon and youth leader. He also was a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed
going to sales and auctions.
Survivors include his wife, the former Violet M. Burnfield, whom he
married on June 12, 1948; two sons, James A. (Barbara) Walker of North
Port, Fla., and Mark A. (Kim) Walker of Champion; one daughter, Deborah
L. (Joe) Caple of Fowler; and five grandchildren, Abigail and Caleb
Caple, Perry and Nathan Walker and Grace (Mike) Bussinger.
Other than his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn
Gibbs, and a son, Timothy Walker, who died in 1984 at 20 years of age.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Champion Baptist
Church.
Relatives and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carl
W. Hall Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on
Friday. Pastor Keith Easton will officiate.
Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be
made to Champion Baptist Church, 556 Center St. West, Warren, Ohio
44483, in his memory.
