EDGAR A. WALSTON

Officer Edgar A. Walston, MPD-6PCT* retired in February 1964, passed away on November 14, 2012.
   Officer Walston's name will be added to the Memoriam pages. Officer Walston's dates of service were 07/09/54 to 02/01/64.
   Edgar Amos Walston, Jr., 89, of Morehead City, North Carolina died Wednesday November 14, 2012, at Carteret General Hospital. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
   Edgar was a retired police officer from Washington, DC for 13 years, and from ABC System in Carteret County. He served in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper during WWII in Belgium and also served as President Eisenhower's honor guard near the end of WWII. He was a lifetime member of American Legion.
   He moved to Carteret County in 1965.
   He is survived by two brothers Donald R. Walston and wife Patsy of Cedar Point, and William Herbert Walston and wife Rene of SC: nephew William Michael Walston and wife Martha of Bogue, several other nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret "Peggy" Walston, a sister Ellen Dawn, his mother Ellen Walston, and father E.A. Walston, Sr.

Edgar registered for the draft ca. 1941.

He enlisted in the Army on 10 March 1943.

On 3 June 1945, T/4 Walston was transferred from the 6900th Reinforcement Depot to  Company H, 508th PIR
