HARRY R. WALTMAN

Grave marker for Harry R. Waltman in the Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia (Colbert county), Alabama.

Harry enlisted at Los Angeles, CA on 12 November 1942 and was assigned to Company G.  Within the next 12 months he was wearing Corporal stripes.  He was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 21 July 1944 following the Normandy campaign.

On 30 September 1944 SSgt Waltman was seriously wounded in Holland.  He returned to the Company three months later where he remained until his discharge on 25 May 1945.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device which was awarded for his participation in Normandy assault
