(courtesy of Louis Schwartz)

Grave marker for Arnold W. Waterman in the Fremont Cemetery, Tripoli (Bremer county), Iowa.

Arnold enlisted in the Army at Camp Dodge, Herrold, IA on 26 May 1944.  Following the completion of basic training and jump school, Pvt Waterman was shipped overseas.

On 23 April 1945 he was transferred from the 51st Reinforcement Depot to the Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion 508th.

After the German surrender on 8 May 1945, the 508hg change of mission caused Pvt Waterman to be deemed surplus and he was transferred to the 101st Airborne on 31 May 1945 based on an order from Hq XVIII Corps (Abn).

While nothing more is known of his service career, it is known that he was discharged on 4 June 1946.
