STANLEY F. WATSICK

Stanley F. Watsick, age 78, of Mpls, passed away Jan. 20, 2004. Ex-POW WWII, 82nd Airborne. Retired from the City of Mpls [Minneapolis] and Brinks Armored Car.

Survived by wife, Virgil; daughters, Angela Watsick, Mary Jo (Jerry) Hayes, Catherine Ann (Carlos) Contreras; grandchildren, Joe (Kym) Hayes, Justin Hayes, Tony Gruba, Alex & Michael Contreras; great-grandchildren, Mikhael & Madalynn Hayes; sister, Josephine Dugan.

Stanley enlisted in the Army in November 1943. 

Following basic training and jump school, he was went to England and in August 1944 he was transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot to Company D, 508th.

Pvt Watick participated in the jump into Holland on 17 September 1944 and was captured that same day.

Liberated from Stalag 2A, he arrived in New York, NY harbor aboard the SS Monticello under Movement Orders RO Group, E 1026-16
